Description
The Rose Mallee is a eucalyptus shrub or small tree growing to between 6 and 9 feet in cultivation. It is a compact shrub that has smooth bluish bark and silvery grey oval leaves which combine well with the large conspicuous red blooms and big conical gum nuts that it produces for most of the year. It is similar to the eucalyptus macrocarpa that we also offer, but is smaller, with smaller flowers and a more reliable shape. It is nectar producing during flowering and is a favourite with nectar seeking birds.
The special feature of this species is its drought resistance which, although it is slightly frost sensitive until fully established.
