Description

Plumbago zeylanica grows throughout the tropical and sub-tropical climates of the world, including Australia and India. In Australia, it grows in the understory of monsoon forests and vine thickets from sea level to 900 m. In Dhofar, Oman, this species is often found growing on Olea trunks.

Plumbago zeylanica is a food plant for the Cassius blue, marine blue, and zebra blue during their larval stages.

Widely distributed throughout the tropics, Plumbago zeylanica is a climbing or prostrate shrub with small, white flowers. It is a popular ground cover and often planted for erosion cotrol, especially in exposed, coastal situations.

A strong ground cover and is ideal for stabilizing soil erosion. This is an excellent alternative for wedelia and non-native plumbagos.This plant has white tubular flowers with green ribs and blue and purple anthers. Flowers can grow 15 feet across on racemes.
